Suzy and everyone else,
I remember that Julie was cleaning the windows of her bedroom on the
second
floor of the house on W. Chestnut Hill and I was watching from the
ground
outside. She was throwing buckets of water onto the shutters
beside the windows on
the outside of the house.
But unbeknownst to us, there was a yellow jacket nest underground
where the
water was coming down and they swarmed up and started stinging
me. It felt
like someone put a cigarette out on my arm. Then on my
neck. Then my back
and all over. I had about 15 stings in all. I immediately
ran into the powder
room half bathroom for sanctuary and I guess I thought it was the most
inside
area of the house. I did not get throat close up sick, but I felt
a lot of pain.
Then once I was on a boy scout hike and we were walking along (on) some
railroad tracks. I remember two things: First, there was a point
where the
scoutmaster or leader agonized over crossing the railroad bridge
because of what if a
train came. We did and it did and we had to quick scramble off,
but it was
pretty scary.
Second, sometime during the hike along the tracks I got attacked
by the yellow jackets and sustained 12 stings or so. There was no
talk of
throat swelling up concerns and we just had to hike back.
There is no impending hurricane here but I wish it would rain.
Love,
Randy
