Ricky Munroe was
born on the evening of Saturday April
4th 1987 at the Allentown Bethlehem Birth
and Midwifery Center. Barbara Lee was the presiding nurse midwife. She
then followed us to Massachusetts.
We were living on Washington Street in
Easton, Pennsylvania at the time. His cousins Evan Crumiller
and Linda Sommer were all born within a 13 day period . Their
mothers, Jenny, Julie and Sue still deny to
this day any collaboration in these amazingly cordinated births.
One day while Julie
and I were downstairs we noticed
a certain stillness in the house. Julie ran upstairs and found
that Ricky was already in his bath. Ricky has always been
eager to do things once he is ready.
Ricky has moved
from reading books to
reading computer screens. Over the years
it has been necessary for many of us, who
love Ricky, to occassionally wop him on the
head.
The
picture above is of Ricky and his cousin Evvie at two years of age.
Ricky got his open water certification in a quarry in November.
It was cold but the wet suits kept us alive. I wouldn't have passed the
test without Ricky's help the next day. You wouldn't believe how
much gear we had to carry down to the water each day.
The picture of Ricky and his Grandmom
Munroe, shows
that last April he was already taller than many adults in his
immediate family. No more needs to be said about that.
This last shot was taken in March of 2004 at his Granddad
Munroe's
90th birthday party. Ricky is talking to his cousins at
the time.
In November Ricky presented his completed Tesla coil to
Brook Road academy. Style weekly carried a full feature
on Ricky's presentation. It was a major event at Brook Road
Academy and in our household. Style
